Managed Video as a Service

The place to learn about and discuss Managed Video as a Service

I routinely peruse other industry blogs as I find them a great source of information regarding emerging trends, competitive landscape and technical insights. One of my favorites, ipvideomarket.info, recently posted a great instructional on the positioning of cameras. The difference between correct and incorrect camera position can truly be the difference between a usable and non-usable video system.

Unlike other technologies I’ve been involved with over the years, proper video installation requires consideration of field of view and changing lighting conditions throughout the day. It’s much more involved than bringing a twisted pair to a demarc. If the camera views are washed out from poor (or too much) light, or the lens is not set properly based on distance, height and field of view, the underlying technology of the software will be underutilized or perhaps, not utilized at all. While these problems can be easily corrected, additional truck rolls only eat into the projected margins. John H., thanks for the post and I’ll be sure to share with our partners.
