Managed Video as a Service

The place to learn about and discuss Managed Video as a Service

It’s been a while since I’ve posted.  My lapse in posts resulted from a combination of year-end activity, holidays, a re-imaged laptop that didn’t have my login and a whole host of other not very good excuses.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been reflecting on our accomplishments in 2008 and our objectives for 2009.  In addition to the strong success we’ve had with some of our major customers, one of the biggest accomplishments we made in 2008 was the establishment of MVaaS as a category that people understand (many of our competitors quickly picked up this term, which is great) and a segment in which people see us as the leader.  I am extremely proud of our team for taking their innovative ideas and making them a reality for our customers.

As I look ahead to 2009 and reflect on the unprecedented challenges facing the market and where we are taking our service, I think immediately of a quote from the ever quotable Wayne’s World - Game On!  2009 is going to be a tough year for vendors and customers alike.  Customers are going to have to do more with less (theft and shrinkage will be up, resources will be down) and many vendors are going to struggle to continue to invest in R&D and new product initiatives as they combat slower sales and look to cut their own expenditures.  It is in this market environment that Envysion and MVaaS will shine.  We are already on track to release several major new features/capabilities in 1Q09 that will further distance us from the competition and will provide even more concrete evidence of the power of the MVaaS platform.

I’m not going to steal our PR group’s thunder and elaborate on the new capabilities until we officially announce them, but I’m very excited about what our development team has implemented and so are the customers that have asked us for the capabilities.

Look for some announcements from us in late January, early February as we bring these new capabilities to market.   And to all of the other players in the space that are laying off developers, cutting back on new products and services you had better try to keep up…  Game On!
