By far, the biggest reason to use analog cameras is cost. Analog cameras are still significantly less expensive than IP cameras. As of April 2008 analog cameras from name brand manufacturers are 50-60% less expensive than similar quality IP cameras. Now maybe you’re thinking it’s worth the extra 50% camera cost to get the additional capabilities of the IP cameras. However, with a well designed system, analog cameras can provide many of the benefits that users of IP cameras enjoy.
